Xiaomi Redmi 6 Review

Redmi 6

Design and Build Quality
When comparing the Redmi 6 to the Redmi 5-series, it appears that aesthetics haven't changed much. The phone is uninspiring, with large bezels all around the display and a dull plastic back.
Competitors such as Realme, Honor, and Infinix may offer better-looking devices at the same price, but they make compromises elsewhere. We are satisfied with the build quality of the Redmi 6. The phone feels very solid in your hand and does not pop open when you apply pressure with your thumbs.

A volume rocker and a power button are located on the phone's right edge.
Dual SIM card slots and a dedicated micro SD card slot are located on the left edge.
The Redmi 6 has a noise-cancelling microphone and a 3.5mm audio jack on the top.
Only a micro USB port and a microphone are located on the bottom edge.
The fingerprint sensor, dual camera system with a flash on the side, and single loudspeaker are all located at the back.

Display
The Xiaomi Redmi 6 has a 5.45-inch IPS LCD display. The screen has a 720+ resolution (720 x 1440 pixels) and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The Redmi 6 display is protected by 2.5D curved edge glass and an unspecified version of Gorilla Glass.
The Redmi 6 display looks a little pale in terms of colors and contrast with the default settings. As a result, after a few minutes of fiddling with the phone, we changed the default contrast and saturation settings to standard. The Redmi 6 display's brightness levels are adequate for indoor use but feels slightly underwhelming outside, especially when the sun is shining.

Performance and Software
The Redmi 6 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6762 Helio P22 chipset built on a 12nm process. The PowerVR GE8320 GPU supports the chipset.
The unit we imported for review has 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. It also has a dedicated microSD card slot. The Redmi 6 performs excellently in terms of overall performance. It is capable of performing daily tasks without stuttering.
In terms of software, the Redmi 6 is very similar to any other Xiaomi smartphone. It launches MIUI 9.6, which is built on Android 8.1 Oreo. MIUI 9.6 comes with a slew of preloaded apps, though you can uninstall the majority of them.

Battery, Audio and Connectivity
The Redmi 6 has a 3000 mAh battery, which is 300mAh smaller than the Redmi 5. It's also worth mentioning that the phone doesn't support fast charging right outside the box. It comes with a charging cable that is 5V/2A, which is slow by 2018 standards. In our daily usage, we average about 8 hours of screen time.
The audio experience on the Redmi 6 is similar to that of any other low-cost device. The phone has a mono loudspeaker that has been placed at the back for some reason. The phone also has a 3.5mm audio jack, which produces suitable sound on good headphones, which must be purchased separately.
The Redmi 6 has dual VoLTE and dual Standby connectivity, which means you can insert two VoLTE-enabled SIM cards and use data on either of them without the other going inactive. We had no trouble receiving calls in our neighborhood. Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, WiFi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 4.2, A2DP, LE, and micro USB 2.0 are also supported.
